Can we talk about homeschool planners? As I am gearing up for our next school year, I begin the search for The Perfect Homeschool Planner. Like finding it will magically make me a super organized homeschooling diva! I’ve never been organized. If we’re being honest, I’m a bit scatterbrained. A bit blonde, if you will. Are the boys still learning and growing as little men? Yes. But sometime I feel like I’m barely treading water.
I would so love to be organized. I would love to have everything planned out and running smoothly. A great homeschool planner would totally be able to help me plan out our days and organize our work, field trips, classes, etc. But who/what is going to make me stick to the plan?! That’s pretty much where I fall short. I’m pretty sure I have ADD (definitely no hyperactivity in this Mama anymore). The slightest shiny thing can distract me.
That pretty much sums it up, right there. I’m working on it! Don’t judge.
So, homeschool planners! I’ve used the planner from Well-Planned Day in the past and LOVED it. They’re beautiful, tons of lines, shopping lists, etc. But I feel like I wasted a lot it. Plus I wish the weekend area was bigger. Daddy tends to do things with the boys on the weekends and there was only a small block for Saturday and Sunday. I want to be able to have their Scouting activities in there as well. The more I look at it, the more I WANT it to be The One. They’re definitely the prettiest homeschool planners on the block.
There are a few good ones over at Currclick, too. I’ve checked out The Girlfriend’s Guide 2 Homeschool Planning, My Favorite Planner with Blog Planner, and The Homeschool Planner from C4 Creations. I looked at the others offered at Currclick and these are the three I would consider. I’ve almost talked myself out of The Homeschool Planner, so I guess it’s down to the first two if I go for one from Currclick. If I buy one at all.
I am leaning toward making my own. Again. I made my own one year using the ridiculously awesome FREE homeschool planner download at NewBeeHomeschooler.com. Check it out. It’s crazy that she gives it to you. And by crazy I mean God bless her! You can tell a LOT of work went into it.
If I do end up making my own, I will totally share it here. If you have a favorite homeschool planner I would LOVE for you to share it in the comments below!! Maybe I am missing that perfect planner that I just know is out there somewhere.

I have tried a few planners myself. Like yourself I just can’t find the perfect one. I usually end up using one I print for free from DonnaYoung.org. She not only has planners but lots of other homeschooling forms and helps.

I’ve used a few of her forms! Forgot all about her. Good call!
Glad to know I’m not the only one that can’t find the perfect planner. LOL!

So glad to hear that our talk on the phone the other day has you now thinking about planners……you are so welcome. I am really starting to like http://shop.apologia.com/books/308-the-ultimate-homeschool-planner.html this one too.
Up next to get your brain in overdrive I will ask about student planners.

Yes, I blame you for starting me this early! I didn’t like the Apologia one. I’m not sure why. I’ll look at it again, but I looked when we got home and it just didn’t strike my fancy. LOL!

Ok, I looked at it again. I just didn’t like it. The whole thing. I take that back, I liked the Evidences of Grace idea.
Is that really what you’re thinking of going with? Am I missing something awesome?

I think the idea of it not being labeled is what I like and the fact that it is more open ended to how you use it. The Evidences of Grace idea was great too.

I’ve seem the Well Planned Day planner and it looks great. I’d love to try it. When things settle down work-wise, I’m going to do a little more homeschool planning. My two oldest are homeschooled, and my two youngest boys are really just getting started this year.
Thanks for sharing about these planners and especially for sharing your thoughts on the Well Planned Day planner.
